One Agency for Every Policy You Need in Southern California

We shop your coverage across multiple carriers — so you get the right fit, not just whatever one company happens to offer.

Why an Independent Agent Works Harder for You

When you buy insurance directly from a carrier, you're talking to someone whose job is to sell you that company's product. At Promax, we don't work for any carrier. We work for you. That means we can compare options across Mercury, Progressive, Safeco, Liberty Mutual, and others to find coverage that actually fits your situation — and we can tell you when something isn't worth buying.

As an independent agency serving the Inland Empire and Orange County since 2003, we've built our entire practice around personal lines insurance. That focus means we know the California market deeply — the carrier withdrawals, the rate environment, the coverage gaps that show up at claim time — and we use that knowledge on your behalf at every renewal, not just when you first sign up.

The Personal Lines Coverage We Handle

Auto Insurance

Your auto policy is often the coverage you need most urgently — and the one most worth shopping carefully. We compare rates and coverage structures across multiple carriers to find a policy that protects you without overpaying. Whether you drive one car or five, we'll put together coverage that makes sense.

Home Insurance

California's homeowners insurance market has become one of the most difficult in the country. Carriers have pulled back from entire regions, and many homeowners are finding their policies non-renewed without warning. As an independent agency, we have access to multiple carriers and can help you find a viable alternative — including guidance on the FAIR Plan if standard market options are limited.

Renters Insurance

Renters insurance is one of the most underused and undervalued policies available. For a modest annual premium, it covers your personal belongings, protects you from liability, and often satisfies lease requirements. We'll walk you through what you actually need — and what you don't.

Condo Insurance

A condo policy covers what your HOA master policy doesn't — your interior, your personal property, and your personal liability. Understanding where the HOA's coverage ends and yours begins is something we help clients sort out every day.

Landlord Insurance

If you rent out a property, a standard homeowners policy won't cover you. Landlord insurance is built for the specific risks that come with having tenants — property damage, liability exposure, and loss of rental income. We help landlords across Southern California structure coverage that holds up.

Umbrella Insurance

An umbrella policy extends your liability coverage beyond the limits of your auto and home policies — typically for far less than most people expect. If you own property, have significant assets, or simply want to know a lawsuit won't wipe out what you've built, umbrella coverage is worth a conversation.

Motorcycle Insurance

Motorcycle coverage has its own set of requirements and risks, and a standard auto policy doesn't extend to it. We write motorcycle policies for riders across the Inland Empire and Orange County, with coverage options for year-round riders and seasonal use alike.

Boat & RV Insurance

Recreational vehicles and watercraft need coverage that travels with you. Whether you're on the road or the water, we can structure a policy that covers the asset, your liability, and the gear that goes with it.

Life Insurance

Life insurance belongs in a personal lines conversation because it's part of the same question: what happens to the people who depend on you? We help clients evaluate term and permanent options without pressure, and we work from your situation — not a sales script.

Shopping Personal Insurance in California Right Now Is Harder Than It Used to Be

The California insurance market has changed significantly over the past several years. Major carriers have reduced their appetite in high-risk ZIP codes, non-renewals have become common in wildfire-adjacent areas, and rates across nearly every personal lines product have increased. For someone going directly to a single carrier, the options are limited to whatever that company is willing to write.

Independent agents have a different position in this market. Because we work with multiple carriers, we can move across the market when one option closes. And because we've been working in Southern California since 2003, we understand which carriers are competitive in which areas, what the FAIR Plan covers and where it falls short, and how to build a coverage structure that holds up even when the market is difficult.

If you've received a non-renewal notice or you're having trouble finding coverage, our California FAIR Plan guide is a useful starting point.

Why Clients Trust Promax With Their Personal Lines Coverage

Promax Insurance Agency is a Ramsey Trusted Pro — a designation earned through a vetting process that evaluates professional standing, client service standards, and alignment with sound financial principles. For clients who found us through the Ramsey network, that designation reflects the same advisory approach we apply to every client relationship: we tell you what we think you need, explain why, and let you make the call.

We've held this designation because our approach to insurance aligns with how we believe it should be handled — as a practical financial decision, not a transaction.

When Did You Last Actually Shop Your Coverage?

A lot changes in a year. Rates shift. Carriers adjust their underwriting. Your home's replacement cost goes up. Your driving record improves. Any of these can mean your current policy is either overpriced or underbuilt — and most people don't find out until renewal time, when it feels too late to do anything about it.

We review our clients' coverage at every renewal because that's when it matters. If we find a better option, we'll bring it to you. If your current policy is the right call, we'll tell you that too.

Common Questions About Personal Insurance in California

  • What types of personal insurance do I need in California?

At minimum, California requires auto liability insurance to drive legally. Beyond that, the coverage you need depends on what you own and what you'd be exposed to if something went wrong. Most homeowners need a home policy, and renters should carry renters insurance regardless of whether their lease requires it. If you own rental property, a motorcycle, a boat, or an RV, each of those needs its own policy. An umbrella policy is worth considering once you have meaningful assets to protect. We're happy to walk through your specific situation and tell you what we'd recommend.

  • Why should I use an independent agent instead of going directly to an insurance company?

A direct carrier can only offer you their own products. An independent agent can compare options across multiple carriers and find coverage that fits your actual situation — not just what one company is willing to write. In California's current market, that flexibility matters more than it used to. Carrier availability has narrowed in many areas, and having access to multiple options is often the difference between finding workable coverage and not.

  • Does Promax charge broker fees?

No. We do not charge broker fees on personal lines policies. Our compensation comes from the carriers we place business with, which means our incentive is to find you the right coverage — not to charge you for the process of doing so.

  • Can Promax help me if my homeowners insurance was non-renewed?

Yes. Non-renewals have become increasingly common in California, particularly in areas with wildfire exposure. We work with multiple carriers and can help you evaluate what's available in the standard market. If standard market options are limited in your area, we can also walk you through the California FAIR Plan and how to supplement it with a companion policy to fill the gaps.

  • Does Promax offer service in Spanish?

Yes. We provide fully bilingual service in English and Spanish. You're welcome to call, email, or come in and work with us in whichever language you prefer.
